We had a wonderful response to our Valentine’s post about naming nesting turtles after loved ones – thank you so much! We are now ready to reveal the five newly named turtles! We are waiting patiently (well a bit anxiously) for our first nest at Sandy Point.
Our new turtles (and sponsors) are:
Amy-Lee – named by Mike McKay for his wife Amy, who is long-time volunteer & friend.
Joasia – named by Mike Stiell for his valentine Joasia who has also been a volunteer.
Rose – named by Dave and Debbie Bucholtz for their dear friend Rose.
Jumbie – named by Molly Murray as a tribute to St. Croix.
Tassi – named by volunteer and supporter Louisa Porter for her sweet doggie.
Our five new turtles join two named previously – MaryLisa (Tim Mauney and family) and Jillene (Peter and Jill White). We’ll be posting updates on their nests as we go through the season.
