Junior Sea Turtle Scientist

Junior Sea Turtle Scientist Learn how to be a sea turtle scientist! Similar to the Sea Turtle Scientist program, JSTS is offered to St. Croix school groups in October and scheduled when visits are possible. Students will take a deep dive into what it takes to be a sea turtle biologist at Sandy Point. This program will educate St. Croix youth on the sea turtles nesting on our beaches from June to November: green and hawksbill turtles. Learn about the biology of greens and hawksbills, observe how we identify sea turtle crawls and determine nest success through excavation of hatched nests. Offered October by appointment.

Applications should be submitted online. For the October program, link to apply opens here 13 September, closes 20 September, or when the program is full.

This is a free program for St. Croix residents, but donations for Education and Outreach are always appreciated.

The St. Croix Sea Turtle Project is sponsored by The Ocean Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, in cooperation with US Fish and Wildlife Service at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
