Sunset Watch

Join us this summer for our newest program – Sunset Watch! Because our leatherback nest numbers were lower than expected this season, we are expanding the Hatchling Watch program to share with you more of the natural wonders of Sandy Point. During the visit, your group will start the evening with a short video on the Leatherback Project at Sandy Point at the refuge office, followed by a trip out to the beach. Participants will have the opportunity to observe all the beauty of Sandy Point at sunset, and maybe even see a green flash! The program may include seeing sea turtle tracks in the sand, green turtles popping up for air in the nearshore, dolphins swimming by, shorebirds on the beach, and maybe some leatherback sea turtle hatchlings emerging from their nest!

APPLY HERE!

The program will run from 13 June to 22 July on Tuesday through Saturday each week from 5 pm to 8 pm. Applications open on 21 May. This free program is open to St. Croix community groups of 12-15 people. Priority is given to youth groups from the VI community.

We look forward to seeing you at Sandy Point this summer! Please email sandypoint.turtlewatch @ gmail.com if you have questions.
