Sea Turtle Rescue

CALL 340-690-0474 anywhere in the US Virgin Islands 24/7 to report sick, distressed, disoriented or dead sea turtles (on land or in the water). Throughout the US Virgin Islands, a number of organizations work together to respond to stranded turtles on all our shores as the Sea Turtle Assistance and Rescue Network – STAR. Please help us respond to turtles in trouble by donating!

We want to prepare to respond appropriately to your call, so please be ready to report:

  • the exact location of the sea turtle (island and beach name)
  • the closest access point by car
  • if the sea turtle is alive or dead
  • approximate size of the turtle and species if known
  • description of any visible injuries (please do not remove any fishing hooks or line/ rope until we arrive and assess)

Please follow the guidance provided by our responders. Do not attempt to rescue or move the sea turtle before calling for assistance as this may result in further injury to the turtle or cause injury to yourself.
